Goat Milk Stuff August 2010 Newsletter
It’s the heat of the summer and we’re loving our newly insulated and air conditioned soap room.  It’s a much cooler place to work now.  We’re hoping you’re enjoying the last part of summer before it’s back-to-school time.  Of course, we homeschool year-round, so it’s always (or never) back-to-school time for the Jonases.

Forgotten username

Many of you have been having trouble remembering your user name on the new website.  We’ve added a feature so you can now ask to be reminded of not only your password, but your username also.  Just go to the register/login page - you just need your email. If no username shows up, that means you’ve never registered on the new website.

New Soap

We’ve got more new soaps for you to try.  Our bug off soap has the same essential oils as our bug off lotion stick.  It has a subtle scent to it that won’t annoy you – but will hopefully annoy the bugs!  We’ve also combined two favorite scents to make a lavender vanilla soap.  It is a light and pretty scent.  And we’re introducing a new foot scrubby.  It’s a peppermint luffa and just right for achy feet.

We’ve also made our bath bombs available in a new form and size.  Instead of pressing the bath bomb powder into a ball, we’ve put them into a bag so you can now control how much powder you add to your bath or foot bath.  We’ve called them Bath Fizzies, and people are loving them.

We’ve also added a cute wooden scoop that’s perfect for measuring out your bath fizzy or your laundry soap.

Free Soap Samples

When you place an order, we’ve always included three, free soap samples.  A few months ago, we made a change to allow you to choose your own samples.  We’ve made another change and have moved the location of the soap samples.  Instead of choosing them on the individual soap pages, now look for them at checkout.

Retail Stores

We need your help finding more retail stores to carry our soaps.  We have a new reward program (more free soap for you!).  To find out the details, just go to our retail rewards page.

Distributor Program

Our soap business is growing to the point that we’re being asked to do more shows than we can possibly fit into our schedule.  In fact, we’re cutting back on our show schedule because we need more time to make soap.  As we focus more of our time on making our goat milk soap, we need to find some people who are interested in helping us to get it into the hands of people who really need it.

If you are interested in selling our soaps, you can check out our Distributor Program information page.

We have a wonderful customer named Cindy, who has been our “test distributor”.  She and her husband have been selling our soap at their local farmer’s market as well as to friends and family.  I asked Cindy about her experience selling our soap and she wrote this wonderful testimonial.  Please check it out – especially if you’re interested in becoming a distributor.

Fund Raisers

We have been approached by several groups about the possibility of doing fundraisers.  We are enthusiastic about this and are developing the program now.  If you are interested in a fundraiser or know somebody who is, please have them email PJ for more information.  Also, if you have any advice/input on how to make a great program, we’d love to hear from you!

Soap Savings

To say thank you to our newsletter subscribers, for the month of August, when you spend a minimum of $10, you may choose one free bar from the limited editions page.  To use the coupon, make sure you have at least $10 in your shopping cart.  Then add your limited edition soap so you’ll have at least $15 in the shopping cart.  You must also be registered and signed in. You’re now ready to enter the coupon code “hot” (no quotes, no caps) in the checkout section of the shopping cart. The shopping cart will deduct $5 from your order, thereby giving you your limited edition free.  If the code doesn't work, make sure you are logged in.

Homestead Happenings

It has actually been a very boring past couple of weeks (which can be a very good thing).  Before we left for vacation, Jim was determined to fill every single curing rack we had with soap.  The good news is that he succeeded.  The bad news is that we’ve had to spend the past few weeks not only recovering from vacation, but bagging all of that soap!

There has been a lot of singing going on in the soap room during these marathon bagging sessions.  Some of our favorite songs to sing are those from Disney and from Musicals.  Singing in the Rain has been a particular favorite of late.  Indigo, Jade, and Hewitt will jump into a room, spread their arms open wide and yell, “Gotta dance!”  (If you haven’t seen Singing in the Rain, we love it.  There is one dance scene I skip – a little too suggestive for the children, but we love the rest of it.)

Here's a photo of the children from our vacation.  I've been so busy catching up, I haven't had a chance to really blog about our vacation.  We took the children out on a fishing boat one day.  They had a blast, everybody caught fish - except for Jim.  Here are the hot and sweaty children in front of the boat after our tour:
