Goat Milk Stuff March 2011 Newsletter

Spring is in the air at Goat Milk Stuff.  We’ve got flowers poking up through the ground and baby goats running everywhere.  We’re all looking forward to Spring and the fact that the children spend more time outside than they do inside!  Below are highlights of what’s happening with Goat Milk Stuff, including new soaps, new kids, some shipping changes, a new contest, and some photos and videos.  Thanks for enjoying our soaps and other stuff as much as we do!

New Soap

Our newest soap is ginger lime and it is made with essential oils.  It’s a refreshingly clean scent that people (especially Colter) are falling in love with.  We also now have our shampoo bars available in unscented.

Half Bars

We’ve always had our half bars available unwrapped.  We are now making these half bars available in cotton bags, as well as unwrapped.  For those of you who are new to our soaps, this is the best way to identify the soaps, as the bags are stamped with the scent.  They are also nicer to give as gifts this way.

Goat Milk Fudge

Our new goat milk fudge is receiving great reviews.  We will continue to make chocolate and peanut butter available.  We need to hear from you if you want us to add any extra flavors, particularly if you want them for your Easter baskets.

Contest

We are currently running a photo contest where the winner gets a $50 gift certificate.  It’s very easy to enter.  You can watch the video for details:

Right now, there aren’t many photos entered, so the odds of winning are really good.  There will be voting to determine the winner.  Not only can you can vote for your own photo, you can get all your friends to vote as well.  Enter on Facebook or on the GMS Website.

Blog

Brett has been doing such a good job with writing on my Goat Milk Soapers Blog, that she has taken it over.  I’ll be writing (less frequently) on a new blog I started at http://goatmilkstuff.com/blog.  One of my recent posts explains why we chose to make goat milk soap and what benefits the goat milk adds to the soap.

Shipping

We have changed our shipping policy to save people money on shipping medium sized orders.  All orders up to 7 bars of soap will still cost $6 to ship.  But orders over 7 bars will now cost between $8 and $12 dollars depending on how far from Indiana you are.  You can check the shipping FAQ to see what zone you are in.  Orders over 36 bars of soap will cost $13 to ship.  If you’re ordering “other stuff”, the shipping is determined by the volume, so just compare the size of what you’re ordering to the size of a bar of soap.

Television Interview

While we were on vacation in Florida, we were asked to do an interview on a program called Daytime, in Tampa (about an hour from where we were staying).  We all climbed into my parents’ two vehicles and drove over.  This time I was joined by Jim and Emery.  They both did a great job, but we were really proud of Emery because he was asked a very difficult question and gave a great answer.  Indigo had a really good cameo appearance also:

Videos

We’re continuing to put out new videos every week.  This week’s video will be introducing you to Colter.  It should be up Wednesday or Thursday, but I didn’t want to delay the newsletter by waiting for it.  If you want to be notified when it (and other new videos) are available, you can subscribe to our youtube channel.  We really appreciate it when you share our videos with your friends and family.

While you’re waiting for Colter’s video, watch this one.  It’s absolutely one of my favorite videos that we’ve done:

Newsletter Special

We’re getting a lot of positive feedback on our lotion sticks, but many people are still unsure of how a solid lotion works.  We want to encourage people to give them a try (as well as benefit existing users), so we’re making one available to our newsletter subscribers at half price this month.  Just add any scent lotion stick to your shopping cart and use the code “baby” (no caps, no quotes).  The shopping cart will take off half the price of the lotion stick.  You do need to be registered and logged in for the cart to accept the code.

We have lotion sticks in several scents as well as unscented.  We also have some specialty lotion sticks such as cold relief, bug off, and tea tree.  To use the lotion stick on my face, I rub some on my palms and finger tips and spread it on my face.  Remember not too use too much.  These are not diluted, so you only need a little bit and they’ll last you a long time.  If you’re looking for all over moisturizing, we recommend either using the bath bombs/bath fizzies in the tub or a sugar scrub in the shower.  These will give you all over moisturizing that should last for several days.

Homestead Happenings

It’s our favorite time of year – kidding season has arrived!!  We have ten baby goats on the ground – 6 doelings and 4 bucklings with two does left to kid.  The children are having a blast running around with the goats and playing with them.  This year Brett has the responsibility of feeding them, and she’s getting a good work out because they drink a LOT! This is a photo of Pegasus with Brett when Pegasus was just minutes old:

We also put out a video of our baby goats.  Brett did a great job narrating it:

Aren’t they cute?  We’re hoping that we’re going to get our new property, and we can keep some of them to increase the herd.  We’re in the process of trying to get the new property rezoned and won’t know anything for a few more months.

As always, we want you to know how much we appreciate your continued support. We love making and sharing our soaps with you!
