You Shred Laundry Soap
Includes one bar of laundry soap for you to grate and a ziploc bag of powder (borax, washing soda, and baking soda) to mix with it. Grating one bar of laundry soap is easy. Grating as many as we do is very time consuming. We're now giving you the option to save money by shredding the laundry soap yourself. First, use a hand grater or cuisinart to shred and powder the laundry bar. Add it to the bag of laundry soap mix (borax, washing soda, and baking soda) and combine it well. It will make approximately 2 pounds (64 Tbsp) of laundry soap (this will vary based on how finely you grate the soap). If you wish to come up with your own formula and provide your own borax, washing soda, and baking soda, you can purchase the laundry bar alone.

Our laundry soap is a wonderful alternative to store bought laundry detergents with optical brighteners that can be irritating to the skin and bad for the environment. We have many customers using this soap on cloth diapers with great results. Please note that our laundry soap will not "suds" like store-bought laundry detergent. It will still get your clothes clean, and is better for your washing machine (particularly high efficiency machines).

Directions (not included on bag):
High Efficiency/Front load Washers: Use 1 Tbsp
Regular Washers: Use 2 Tbsp
Use an extra Tbsp for particularly dirty laundry
OK to use in hot or cold water

Use 1/2 cup white vinegar in the rinse cycle to soften and brighten clothes.
Use up to 1 cup hydrogen peroxide as a whitener instead of bleach.

Notes on septic systems:
Septic experts generally tell people to avoid using powdered laundry soap for two reasons:
1. too much is often used and does not dissolve properly
2. many 'bargain' powders have large amounts of non-biodegradable fillers such as clay which will clog the pores in the soil in your drain field.

Now the good news... your GMS laundry soap requires a small amount of powder per load, so it easily dissolves completely even in high efficiency washers that use far less water. Also, we do not add any such fillers that will lead to premature septic failure. So you can continue to use and recommend the GMS laundry soap that you've come to love with confidence!

Ingredients Goat milk soap; Borax; Washing soda; Baking soda.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the GMS laundry soap! The very first order I ever placed was for the ready-to-use laundry detergent, and I was VERY impressed! I have now started making my own laundry detergent using this laundry bar, and I will NEVER use anything else! Being married to a farmer and having 4 children, our clothes get dirty. Really dirty. The first load I ever washed with GMS soap (along with the Stain Stick) included a shirt with tomato sauce stains that had been there for months and had been through the washer and dryer many times. I had tried just about every other stain remover, etc and was just resigned to the stain. After one wash with GMS, the stains were GONE! And it leaves your clothes SO soft and fluffy without using any kind of softener!

This is a very easy bar to grate for making your own laundry detergent. Other bars of soap were so hard to grate that I used the larger holes, then put it through the food processor. This is so soft and easy that I was able to use the fine holes with no problem, and save a step! Also, FYI - my bar of soap came to 4 cups grated. Another wonderful product!

Hi PJ!!!! I absolutely LOVE the laundry soap!!! I'm NEVER going back to detergent again. My clothes come out softer and with NO retained sweat odor on my hubby's workout clothes. I had tried everything before -- sanitizing cycle on the my machine, bleach, nothing worked. I didn't realize it would be such a simple solution of switching to your soap. YAY!!!

We've been using it for a month. It works great in our high efficiency front loader Samsung washer. We have been using 1/4-1/2 cup of vinegar instead of typical fabric softener. There is no vinegar smell. Hydrogen peroxide is working well as a bleach alternative. It's nice not to have that bleach smell in the white clothes. Great product.

Hi Jonas family! I decided to give your laundry soap a try. I love your goat milk soaps (my two young sons do too!)and the perfumes too!I'm trying to go as natural as possible since my hubby and oldest son have allergies and are both sensitive to smells whether from store-bought perfumes(nasty pthalates!)or household cleaners. I used to buy scent-free detergent & fabric softener but got to thinking about the other stuff in there that I don't want myself or my young boys to "wear". So I did my first load the day after I received/made my laundry soap and I am so impressed!! I set some aside for my mom to try (she has VERY sensitive skin)and ordered the soap bars and will be making my own laundry soap from now on! I'm donating these leftover store bought detergent & fabric softeners so they won't go to waste and will forever use goat milk soap for my family's laundry. I washed my son's coats yesterday w/ goat milk soap and they came out soft, clean and perfect! Thank you so much for helping me go chemical free in the laundry dept. as well now!
