Chef Colter

Colter asked if he could cook dinner.

Of course, I immediately said, “No.”

Yeah, right!

My actual answer was, “Go for it!” So here he is cooking baked beans over the fire pit.

He did a great job. They were really yummy. He also decided to make corn bread for his Dad. He ran into a little bit of trouble on that one. But he persevered.

When he discovered we were out of cornmeal, he called Farmer Fraser. Farmer Fraser always has cornmeal. The question was whether or not they were home. Since they were home, Colter and Emery got to run the half mile to the Fraser’s house to pick it up. (They get so excited when I let them do that). 😀

Here is a photo of the cornbread. It was good even though Cole did burn the bottom. He didn’t realize the pan needed a lid to hold in the heat. That prevents the bottom from burning before the top cooks. But we’ll just chalk that up to a learning experience.

It was a really nice dinner. 😀

My little boy is growing up…
