A Future Songwriter??

Greyden’s zone is the kitchen sink area. He is responsible for washing all the big dishes. Yep, all the pots and pans and everything (except the milk pails – Cole and Emery each have to do their own). He’s also responsible for loading and unloading the dishwasher. Which happens about twice a day at our house. He doesn’t have to do the counters. Brett cleans the counters to the left of the sink and Cole cleans the counter to the right of the sink.

Lately he’s taken to shining the sink. He said to me yesterday, “Mom, the sink looks so much better when I dry it.” Ya gotta love that kid – flylady would be really proud.

Oh, and did I mention that Greyden is only 7?!?

Anyway, this isn’t about how amazing Greyden is with his zone. And in case you were wondering, no he isn’t perfect. He does complain about it occasionally. But in general he really prefers this zone. His old one was the laundry and the cat litter. But he’s passed that on to Hewitt and Greyden is now Sink Man.

So, what is this post about?

Well… this morning we were all cleaning our zones. Greyden was happily washing the breakfast stuff. I was in my bedroom making my bed and cleaning up.  Hewitt had taken a clean load of boys’ laundry out of the dryer, and put it in my room where the clean laundry goes. I called for Emery to come and fold it and put it away.

About 30 seconds go by (still no sign of Emery) when I hear Greyden singing:

“Emery, Emery, Emery
You’d better come on the run
And get your laundry done
Or Mom will kill you til you’re GONE!”

It’s good to know Greyden thinks so highly of my parenting skills.
