New Shoes

I think I mentioned that we bought new shoes for the children about a month ago. They’re always so excited to get new shoes. Mostly because they play so hard that their existing shoes are completely falling apart by the time we get around to shoe shopping.

Here are some of the old shoes:

As a bonus, we got new snow boots too (which as I’ve said before means it won’t snow this year):

While we were shopping, I tried on a pair of shoes. They were a bit big on me, but I thought I’d try them with thicker socks that I had at home to see if I could make them work. I didn’t think they would, but I bought them, planning to return them if they were too big.

In truth, I forgot about them until a couple of days later when Jim handed them to me.

Me: “Oh thanks, you can put them over there because I’m going to return them.” (I didn’t want to have to bother with thick socks each time).

Jim: “Ummm… why?”

Me: “They were really too big, but I liked them so I thought I’d give them a try anyway.”

Jim: “You could wear them with two pairs of socks.”

Me: “I could, but I’ll just try to find ones that fit better.”

Jim: “You never have time to shop for shoes and you liked these.”

Me: “Yeah, but they’re too big.”

Jim: “They might not be with two pairs of socks. Plus, with all the interviews you’re doing, you may need them.”

At this point I’m looking at him funny because Jim isn’t one to really care about my shoes or make an issue when I say I’m going to take things back. So I just gave him a “what’s up?” look.

Jim: “I took all the tags off and threw away the box.”

Do you like me new shoes?:

They’re really comfortable with two pairs of socks.

  1. Thats too funny!! my husband is the same way!!! I will buy him a pair of jeans and I say " make sure to try them on before you rip the tags off!!!" and then I hear "well there loose but I will keep them" and then I say "if there too loose we can get a smaller pair" then the reply comes… "nope I already tore the tags off!!"

  2. I love seeing the adventures of your family. And seeing that line-up of boots gave me the warm fuzzies. God bless your family!
