Yesterday, Hewitt came into the living room where Jim and I were. He went up to Jim and was clearly upset about something. He started to complain and yell about something that had happened. He said something like, “Somebody poked me in the eye, and it was Col…”
But he was immediately cut off by Jim tickling him.
Jim stopped tickling him. So he started again, “I got poked in the eye by Col…”
“But Dad, my eye got poked by Col…”
Usually my children are pretty quick. But I admit, it took Hewitt quite a while to catch on the fact that if he said Colter, he would get tickled.
After a while, it became a game, with Hewitt grabbing Jim’s hands and yelling, “COLTER!”
He was never disappointed.
It actually looked something like this video(although I didn’t get the camera out until after Hewitt stopped crying about his eye. And be careful – the girls are kind of loud as Hewitt had interrupted a karaoke session):
They had a lot of fun that afternoon.
Jim told me today that when he tucked Hewitt into bed last night, he was all sleepy and snuggly. So Jim gave him a big squooshy hug and as Jim had most of his weight on top of Hewitt, Hewitt whispered… “Colter”
