We’ve been making our goat milk soap laundry soap for quite a while now and people are loving it. One of the questions I get asked a lot is, “What’s so special about the laundry soap?”
Just one of the answers is that our laundry soap does not contain any optical brighteners. Since most people have never heard of optical brighteners, I managed to find some time to write a short article about optical brighteners that you can read and share.
The short version is that optical brighteners are chemicals that companies add to their laundry detergents. These chemicals bind to your clothes and fool your eyes into thinking that your clothes are whiter and brighter than they actually are.
Because they do not wash off your clothes, optical brighteners can irritate your skin. They can also stiffen your clothes so they require the use of fabric softeners. And since they are not readily biodegradable, optical brighteners can be harmful to the environment.

If you haven’t already done so, try some of our goat milk soap laundry soap. You too may be surprised at how well it cleans and how soft it leaves your clothes. Because you only use a little bit per load (1 Tbsp for high efficiency machines and 2 Tbsp otherwise), it’s a great value for a great product.
