We Have Baby Rabbits!

Well… we thought we had found homes for our male rabbits in time.  But apparently we didn’t because Sandy just had 3 babies on Saturday!  There are two black and white spotted babies and one black baby.

They are just two days old in these photos. They’re fat and happy and Sandy is being a great mom.

Indigo does such a good job with the babies.  She’s gentle and loving and doesn’t drop them – even if they pee on her which this one did just before we took this photo!

I’ve always said that baby goats are the cutest things.  But baby bunnies (especially in a few more weeks) are a close second.

Those baby bunnies are just as adorable as your daughter. I don’t think she noticed a little pee from these little cuties.

Oh, she definitely noticed. LOL But she didn’t mind too much. 🙂 PJ

They’re so much fun. But I admit that we have them mostly for their manure for the garden. 🙂 PJ

I wish! I doubt my three cats would appreciate the newcomer, though. Have fun with those babies!

soo sweet! Growing up we use to get wild ones every summer. My parents always let us play with them (my parents are avid gardeners and rabbits ate their produce- so they never wanted them around). People always told us that if you touch them the mom will abandon them. Never found that to be true. we would put them back in the nest at night and they were always fed in the morning. Found an article in the NY Times Science times that read rabbits spend less than 5 minutes a night nursing their babies. The milk is “high Power” and to spend more than 5 minutes nursing would risk other animals getting them. though that was so interesting. makes since since my dog never caught the mamas even though they would have their babies right next to where my golden retriever used to sleep! Looks like your Domestic rabbits don’t mind the extra attention and love on the babies either!

They get tons of attention, so it definitely doesn’t seem to make a difference. This litter she only had 3 babies and they are huge!! So they are getting a lot of that high power milk. LOL PJ
