Our Favorite Places to Eat In NYC

While we were in NYC, we went to several wonderful restaurants, and my siblings want me to share them with you.

The first night we went to ABA, a turkish restaurant that had amazing food. (I don’t have any pictures because the food was gone so quickly.)  We ordered several of the ABA platters and shared an assortment of the lamb and kebobs and everything that was on there.  We also ordered some falafel and of course baklava for dessert!

The second night, we were wandering around in Little Italy, looking for calzones. We met Vinny, and he pointed out Il Piccolo Bufalo. Jonas New York 14_blog_81 The next morning, we made our way to Pick-A-Bagel for some NYC bagels. That night, we were walking back towards our hotel to get ready to see The Lion King on Broadway, when we saw Connolly’s, an Irish pub. Since the prices were not too bad (when you’re feeding 11 people in NYC, you’ve gotta keep an eye on prices), we decided to give it a try. And boy, am I glad we did! The people were fantastic, (Thanks so much, Denise and Nino!) the food was fantastic, and we all came away very happy after enjoying reubens, beef stew, shepherd’s pie, and chicken pot pie.  Indigo and Jade actually ordered ravioli made with goat cheese and it was amazing too!

The next night, Dad and Mom took us a a pizzeria they’d eaten at the last time they were in NYC, John’s Pizzeria. We got to sit by one of the big ovens and watch them make the pizza, which was cool.

The morning we had to leave, we decided we had time to try the other bagel restaurant that had been recommended to us. Ess-A-Bagel quickly became a favorite, and in the end, we decided that we liked it better than Pick-A-Bagel. Pick-A-Bagel was still good though!

We ate some amazing food while we were in NYC!

PJ adds: I’m always so proud of the children and how they are willing to experiment with new foods.  From Turkish to Italian to Irish to American, they enjoy it all!

We go to NYC periodically to see our son who lives there, and it is helpful to know some tried and true places that we can frequent the next time we are there.   2. Regarding a brunch at a Turkish restaurant in NY, I would surely pitch the name of Opera Cafe Lounge at 2255 Emmons Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Here you can get a great taste of Turkish delicacies.
