Our dairy goats are not only foundational to Goat Milk Stuff, but they are a big part of our family as well.  Each of them has a personality and during this series we’re hoping you’ll get to know more about them.

Persephone was another one of the first goats we got when we rebuilt our herd from scratch. Like Zuzu, she’s been here a while, and like Zuzu, we love what she’s done to our herd.

She’s one of our favorite does to milk, and she gives us a ton of it. Because of that, we kept one of her sons, Panini, and he’s the father of almost half of our herd.

Brett: So, what can you tell me about Persephone?

Emery: She likes to give kisses.

Greyden: Slobbery ones.

Emery: So? I think it’s sweet.

Greyden: And slobbery.

Emery: Yes, okay, they’re slobbery,

Colter: She’s super sweet.

Emery: Yup, she is. Most of her babies are too.

Greyden: Her granddaughter Bathsheba is my favorite.

Emery: Bathsheba is a spoiled brat.

Greyden: She is not!

Brett: Hey, stop, we can talk about Bathsheba when we do Bathsheba’s post.

Emery: *whispers* She’s spoiled.

Brett: *gives Emery the older sister death glare*

Colter: I like Panini’s kids. I’m glad we kept him.

Emery: Well, I like her granddaughter Belle. She’s got a great udder, lots of milk, and she’s a sweetie!

Greyden: I like Bathsheba.

Emery: Bathesheba is–

Brett: *cuts him off* Nope. Not going there, Emery.

Emery: *laughs* Fine.

Persephone is a sweetheart, and one of the few goats that we will retire on the farm. Most of our other goats go to new homes with other families after a couple of years with us, but Mom says that Persephone and Zuzu will spend the rest of their lives here. We love our “Seph”!
