Tackled, Tebow, and Tickle

I abandoned Varsity, Vereena, and Parcells, knowing that Indigo and Jade would continue to dry them off, grabbed a stack of towels, and ran to kidding pen A.

I was just in time to catch our first baby – a buckling that we named Tackled, in honor of the Super Bowl (which was still going on.)

A few seconds later, he was joined by his brother, Tebow (this was a football name that I actually knew. LOL)goat birth thalia_2

Indigo and Jade came running from the milk room to get them and bring them into the warm milk room.

We had a bit of a breather, but it wasn’t long before we were joined by their little sister, Tickle! The little girls wanted to name her Tiana, but Mom vetoed Tiana because she wanted to have Tickle and Fickle.

Thoroughly exhausted by now – 7 babies in two hours is tiring! – I left Thalia in the kidding pen and went back to the milk room.

It wasn’t long before I had their collars on, paperwork done, and they all had full bellies.

We took a picture of the three of them,

before pulling everyone in to get a picture of all six of our Super Bowl babies! Left to right: Parcells, Tackled, Tickle, Varsity, Tebow, and Vereena.

After we took the picture, everyone quickly finished their responsibilities and went racing back to the house. The Super Bowl was long over, but it didn’t matter anymore. The only thing that mattered was getting to bed – because either we had a shift to take that night, or we’d had a shift the night before, and we were exhausted!
