Benefits of Bug Out Spray Natural Bug Repellent

We created our easy-to-use natural bug repellent when our children were little and complained of getting itchy and bug-bitten after running around outside at dusk. We searched market shelves for a skin-safe alternative free of DEET and other harsh chemicals, but found nothing we wanted to put directly on their skin.

Then, we discovered a blend of bug-repelling essential oils and decided to mix it into a batch of our Goat Milk Solid Lotion to test it. We took all eight of our children to the park at dusk and though everyone around us was slapping at mosquitoes, the bugs left all of us alone. When we got home, we couldn’t find a single bite on any of us. We were convinced that it is possible to repel bugs naturally, and the Bug Out line was born!

Not only does our Bug Out Spray Natural Bug Repellent smell much better than chemical-based bug sprays, but it’s also much more gentle on your skin and body thanks to the delicate balance of protective essential oils in our formulas.

How to Use Natural Bug Out Spray

Shake the bottle to mix all the ingredients together. Then, spray liberally on your hair, skin, shoes, and clothing. Reapply as needed. We have never had any complaints about clothing discoloration or staining from the spray, but always test a small spot first on any clothes you are concerned about.

But Out Spray Storage Tips

We recommend keeping your all-natural bug spray in the fridge when possible as it helps extend its shelf life (plus, the cool spray feels soothing when sprayed on bare skin in the hot summer months). If we know we’re going to be out and about, we’ll keep our Bug Out Spray in our vehicle for multiple days, but we rotate it into the fridge if we know we won't be using it for a while. Note that it is completely natural for the essential oils in our Bug Out Spray to separate from the other ingredients. To combine, simply shake the bottle before use.

Bug Out Spray Sizes

Our Bug Out Spray is available in three sizes to suit your needs. Our standard natural bug spray bottle size is 4 oz. making it easy to hold and spray.

To prevent you from having to buy countless spray bottles once you’ve discovered how much you love our natural bug spray, we also offer a 16 oz. refill bottle. This works perfectly to decant into the standard spray size, or into different sizes of spray bottles (which we also sell) for your next camping trip. But keep in mind that the essential oils to separate and float to the top. When pouring into smaller sizes, shake well and pour quickly to make sure the essential oils are evenly dispersed.

If you want to try this natural bug spray, but you’re not sure if it’s right for you, our 1 oz. trial bottle is a great option. It introduces you to the scent and feel of this product, so you’ll know if it’s right for you and your family’s skin. The trial size is also perfect to slip into a pocket or in a diaper bag, and is conveniently TSA approved.

About Us

The Jonas family is a God-loving, hard-working, ever-learning family that seeks to honor Jesus in all that we do.  We began Goat Milk Stuff to share the goodness of goat milk with others, to bring Jim home full-time, and to provide an environment where the children could learn to be entrepreneurs. As the children and Goat Milk Stuff have grown, we've been able to watch all of these goals come to fruition. We have a very simple philosophy when it comes to parenting and educating our children.

Meet Our Goats

We breed Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf registered dairy goats in Scottsburg, Indiana - only half an hour North of Louisville, Kentucky. Our Alpine dairy goats are raised as naturally as possible. We have a 36 acre farm in Southern Indiana, and the goats spend their days in the woods, in their pastures, or in the barn if there's bad weather. We have approximately 200 Alpine baby goats born every year, and have plenty of baby goats for sale February through April and sometimes after that.
