How to Use the Liquid Goat Milk Soap Refill

The Liquid Goat Milk Soap is designed to be used with a foamer bottle. Because we do not chemically thicken the Liquid Goat Milk Soap, if a non-foaming pump top is used it may splatter when it hits your hands.

The Liquid Goat Milk Soap is not concentrated, so you do not need to dilute it. Shake if separation occurs and then pour the Liquid Goat Milk Soap from the plastic refill bottle directly into the foamer bottle.

Using the Liquid Soap Foamer Bottle

Many commercial liquid soaps contain chemical lubricants which extend the life of the foamer bottle. While this may be good for your foamer, we don't think it's very good for your skin. Because we don't add any chemical lubricants, your foamer bottle may have a limited lifespan. Please expect to have to replace your foamer bottles periodically.

If the pump on your foamer bottle is "sticking", one of the following tips may help extend the life of your foamer bottle. Most of the time, the foamer just needs to be replaced but we have had some customers report they've had some success with these tips.

  • Has it been awhile since you've used the foamer bottle? As the pump is used, there is residual liquid on the screen. If the pump is not used frequently, that soap liquid can dry, creating a film on the screen which can ultimately clog the screen making the pump hard to use. Try using the foamer more frequently.
  • Is there liquid in the air chamber? You should see it inside the chamber below the pump. If so, turn it upside down and pump a few times which should get the water out of the air chamber.
  • Has there been liquid in the air chamber for a while? If so, clean as above. However, if the soap has had time to degrade the silicone in the pump, it may not regain the original amount of "spring".
  • Is the screen clogged? Remove the foamer and place the straw in some warm water. Pump water through (the water won't foam). If the pump is clogged with dried soap, then use the pump more frequently, keeping the screen cleaned.
  • Is the soap too thick? To work in the foam pump bottles the liquid should be water-thin. If it is too thick, the pump won't work properly and/or can be permanently damaged. To resolve, add just a tiny amount of water. If you dilute the soap too much, it won't foam well.

If the pump is still sticking and none of the above steps have resolved it, it could be the screen is not cleaning or the lubricant on the pump is dissolved. If you feel brave, try taking the whole mechanism apart and cleaning it with hot water. It may make it work again or it may remove all the remaining lubricant completely, causing the pump to become very hard to use - so don't do this unless you try all the other steps first.

What does "Unscented" Truly Mean?

The unscented soap varieties smell like soap, yet do not have any added scents or fragrances (including essential oils!) to reduce risk of irritation. Unscented soap does still have a smell because the ingredients used in soap production contain natural scents that we do not chemically remove.

We do store the unscented liquid soap in separate containers to prevent the product from picking up notes from our fragranced products. However, unscented items that are made in the same room or ship in the same package as scented items may pick up trace amounts of scent. This fragrance should disappear when the items are separated. If you do find you’re hyper-sensitive to scents in general, start with the foamer bottle to make sure the pure liquid soap smell is not irritating.
