Scent
Scent
Persimmon soap has no added scent.
The unscented soap varieties smell like soap, yet do not have any added scents or fragrances (including essential oils!) to reduce the risk of irritation. Unscented soap does still have a smell because the ingredients used in soap production contain natural scents that we do not chemically remove. For example, coconut oil smells like coconut oil, milk smells like milk, and unscented soap smells like unscented soap.
If you are hyper-sensitive to scents in general, start with a smaller sized bar to make sure the pure soap smell itself is not irritating.
Please be aware that we make many scented products in our Soaproom. While there is no added scent to the Persimmon Goat Milk Soap itself, when you receive your soap you may be able to smell scents on the exterior of your soap and the packaging it arrives in. If you are extremely sensitive to scent, you can remove the packaging and even wash with the soap once to remove any scent that may have settled out of the air onto your soap.
We would love to someday have a separate building dedicated to unscented products and packaging, but unfortunately, we don't have that ability at present.

Ingredients
Ingredients
Raw goat milk; Saponified natural fats, coconut oil, sunflower oil, persimmon powder.
Raw Goat Milk
Unlike our competitors, we only use goat milk from our own herd of healthy, pastured dairy goats. Our milk travels several hundred feet from our milking parlor to our soaproom. It isn't transported hundreds of miles and it's often turned into soap the same day it is collected. This ultra-fresh milk is as healthy as possible and is high in skin-nourishing ingredients like Selenium, Vitamin A, and Lactic Acid.
Natural Fats
Lard contains a blend of fatty acids, including oleic, palmitic, and lauric acids, which nourish and protect the skin. It is also a rich source of vitamins A and D, both essential for skin health. These vitamins promote cell repair, reduce inflammation, and guard against environmental damage. Glycerin is a natural humectant that helps the skin retain moisture, making lard glycerides particularly beneficial for dry or sensitive skin. Studies also indicate that lard glycerides have mild antimicrobial properties, supporting skin health and reducing acne-causing bacteria.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that can make your skin feel soft and smooth. Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help treat skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Coconut oil has a small amount of natural SPF, so it can provide some minor sun protection for your skin. Coconut oil contains vitamin E, which can help even out your skin tone and reduce dark spots.
Sunflower Oil
Sunflower oil is known for its nourishing and moisturizing properties. It has vitamin E, which is great for moisturizing your skin. It has a type of fatty acid called linoleic acid that can help improve your skin's natural barrier and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It has lots of antioxidants that can help protect your skin from damage caused by the sun and pollution. If your skin is irritated and itchy, sunflower oil can help calm it down. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce redness and swelling.
Persimmon Powder
Sourced from nutrient-rich persimmons, persimmon powder delivers a concentrated burst of skin-loving antioxidants, including beta-carotene, vitamin C, and tannins. These powerful compounds help shield the skin from free radical damage and environmental stressors, while vitamin C boosts collagen production for firmer, more youthful-looking skin. The natural vitamin A supports cell repair and brightens complexion, and the gentle astringent tannins tighten pores and calm irritation—making persimmon powder an exceptional, revitalizing ingredient for radiant, healthy skin.
Saponified
Saponification is the chemical soapmaking reaction that turns the ingredients into soap. We use sodium hydroxide as the catalyst for bar soap and potassium hydroxide as the catalyst for liquid soap. Neither of these ingredients are left in the finished soap. They have all been used up in the saponification reaction and turned into soap.
Directions
Directions
- Wet. Get both your skin and the soap wet.
- Lather. Use your hands, a washcloth, or rub directly on your skin.
- Wash. Safe to use on your entire body, including your face and delicate areas. Avoid getting lather directly in your eyes.
- Rinse. Thoroughly wash off all the soap lather.
- Store Properly. After using, place the soap on a soap rest to dry thoroughly. This will help it last longer.
- Patch Test First. This soap should feel fantastic all over your body, except directly in your eyes. To discover any possible allergic reaction, test the soap on a small area of skin first.Â

What is Persimmon Goat Milk Soap good for?
The persimmon powder in the soap is high in tannins which help neutralize the "old people smell".
What is Persimmon Goat Milk Soap good for?
Persimmon Goat Milk Soap is made with persimmon powder. As people age, a chemical compound called 2-nonenal naturally builds up on the skin. This creates a musty odor, commonly referred to as the "old people smell".
The naturally-occurring tannins in persimmons bind to the 2-nonenal compound on the skin and neutralize it, decreasing the odor. This provides a natural, plant-based solution to effectively neutralize the "old people smell", not just cover it up with temporary fragrances.

How should I store my Persimmon Goat Milk Soap?
Keep it in a dry, well-ventilated, not in direct sunlight area and away from water when not in use.
How should I store my Persimmon Goat Milk Soap?
To ensure your Persimmon Goat Milk Soap lasts as long as possible, store it in a dry, well-ventilated spot away from moisture when you’re not using it. Goat milk soap, like the cold-processed bars from Goat Milk Stuff, can soften or dissolve faster if left in standing water, such as a soggy shower dish.
After use, place it on a draining soap dish or a dry surface where air can circulate around it, helping it harden and extend its life. Avoid humid areas like an enclosed bathroom cabinet if possible.
Is Persimmon safe to use on my face?
Absolutely! As long as you aren't allergic to the soap, it is very moisturizing.
Is Persimmon safe to use on my face?
Persimmon soap is safe to use on your face, hands, and body. If you are concerned you may be allergic, please test on a small patch of skin first. If no allergies or sensitivities are present, the Persimmon goat milk soap should leave your face clean, soft, and lightly exfoliated.

Where does the persimmon power come from?
We use Japanese persimmon powder in the Persimmon Goat Milk Soap.
Where does the persimmon power come from?
We tried using persimmons from our farm in Indiana but the effect of the persimmons was not strong enough. Instead, we use Japanese persimmon powder which is higher in tannins than our persimmons and is more effective at neutralizing the "old people smell".
Why choose Persimmon Goat Milk Soap over other soaps?
It’s natural, unscented, and provides a natural solution to the "old people smell".
Why choose Persimmon Goat Milk Soap over other soaps?
Persimmon Goat Milk Soap stands out because it skips the harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and artificial colors found in many commercial soaps, offering a pure, natural alternative. Made with raw goat milk from a family farm, it’s rich in vitamins, alpha-hydroxy acids, and minerals that nourish and hydrate your skin. The cold-process method preserves these benefits, delivering a creamy lather that cleanses without drying you out.
And the natural persimmon powder provides a plant-based solution to the common "old people smell" without added fragrance.

About Us
The Jonas family is a God-loving, hard-working, ever-learning family that seeks to honor Jesus in all that we do. We began Goat Milk Stuff to share the goodness of goat milk with others, to bring Jim home full-time, and to provide an environment where the children could learn to be entrepreneurs. As the children and Goat Milk Stuff have grown, we've been able to watch all of these goals come to fruition. We have a very simple philosophy when it comes to parenting and educating our children.
Meet Our Goats
We breed Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf registered dairy goats in Scottsburg, Indiana - only half an hour North of Louisville, Kentucky. Our Alpine dairy goats are raised as naturally as possible. We have a 36 acre farm in Southern Indiana, and the goats spend their days in the woods, in their pastures, or in the barn if there's bad weather.
Baby goats are raised on their mom's colostrum and goat milk. Babies are weaned around 3-4 months old. Since the moms are milked for about 10 months, there is plenty of excess milk to use in our goat milk products.
