Have you ever considered what chemicals your clothes can carry? Commercial laundry detergents contain chemicals such as optical brighteners that bind to your clothing. These chemicals then come in contact with your skin and can cause irritation.
Our Goat Milk Laundry Soap is made with goat milk soap, borax, washing soda, and baking soda. It doesn't contain any nasty, unwanted chemicals and is not designed to bind to your clothing. This makes it a wonderful alternative to store bought laundry detergents that can be irritating to the skin and bad for the environment.
This depends on what size goat milk laundry soap you purchase, and what type of laundry machine you have. Our natural laundry soap comes in three sizes:
Trial (3 oz.) =~ 5 Tbsp.
Regular (10 oz.) =~ 20 Tbsp.
Refill (5 lbs.) =~ 160 Tbsp.
For high efficiency and front-loading machines, use 1 Tbsp. For regular washing machines, use 2 Tbsp. If your laundry is particularly dirty, use a heaping Tbsp. Depending on your machine and the dirtiness of your laundry, you may get up to 20 washes with our Regular size.
While mass-produced laundry detergents are tempting due to their ease and claims of bright, white clothing, they are filled with harsh chemicals. This includes optical brighteners that bind to your clothes to alter the way they reflect light. Optical brighteners are made up of chemical compounds, and usually are not even listed on the ingredient list. Since they bind to the fabric, they regularly come into contact with your skin, and due to their harsh ingredients, can cause rashes and irritations to the skin. Natural Laundry Soap does not contain these unhealthy chemicals.
Natural laundry soap is safer for the environment, since there are no harsh, non-biodegradable chemicals entering the water supply. Natural laundry soap also leaves fabrics feeling soft, even when line dried, unlike detergents with optical brighteners.
Yes! It is actually better for your washing machine (especially high efficiency washers). This powder can be used with hot or cold wash cycles, and should go directly in the soap dispenser. While some people choose to add it directly to their clothes, we do not recommend this because it may not fully dissolve when placed directly with the clothes.
Septic experts generally tell people to avoid using powdered laundry soap for two reasons:
Too much is often used and then does not dissolve properly.
Many 'bargain' powders have large amounts of non-biodegradable fillers, such as clay, which will clog the pores in the soil of your drain field.
The good news is that our Goat Milk Laundry Soap requires a small amount of powder per load, so it completely and easily dissolves, even in high efficiency washers that use far less water. We also don’t add any fillers that will lead to premature septic failure. With this in mind, you can continue to use our Goat Milk Laundry Soap that you've come to love with confidence!
Yes! Goat Milk Laundry Soap is a great option for washing baby’s clothes and cloth diapers because it cleans thoroughly while protecting baby’s sensitive skin. We have many customers who use our laundry soap to wash their cloth diapers and find it produces great results due to the chemical free ingredients. In fact, many of the ingredients in our laundry soap are recommended for use when “stripping” cloth diapers.
While Goat Milk Laundry Soap is focused on keeping clothes clean (which is perfect for all the messes that babies create), its natural ingredients do not use chemicals to create the illusion of bright, white laundry. This means there are no chemical irritants that may bind to your baby’s clothes and cause rashes on their sensitive skin. Our natural laundry soap is something you can feel good using on all your baby related clothing and fabrics.
Yes! There are no added ingredients that would affect the dyes or coloration of fabric, making Goat Milk Laundry Soap a perfect, safe option for colored clothes as well.
