Scent
Scent
Tallow Goat Milk Soap has no added scent.
The unscented soap varieties smell like soap, yet do not have any added scents or fragrances (including essential oils!) to reduce the risk of irritation. Unscented soap does still have a smell because the ingredients used in soap production contain natural scents that we do not chemically remove. For example, coconut oil smells like coconut oil, milk smells like milk, and unscented soap smells like unscented soap.
If you are hyper-sensitive to scents in general, start with a smaller sized bar to make sure the pure soap smell itself is not irritating.
Please be aware that we make many scented products in our Soaproom. While there is no added scent to the Tallow Goat Milk Soap itself, when you receive your soap you may be able to smell scents on the exterior of your soap and the packaging it arrives in. If you are extremely sensitive to scent, you can remove the packaging and even wash with the soap once to remove any scent that may have settled out of the air onto your soap.
We would love to someday have a separate building dedicated to unscented products and packaging, but unfortunately, we don't have that ability at present.
Size
Size
- Weighs between 3.6 and 4.5 ounces
- Measures approximately 3.5" x 1" x 2"
- Arrives 'naked' with a sticker label identifying the soap
We weigh all soaps six weeks after we make them to make sure they’re heavy enough. As the soaps get older, they last longer. But they might get a bit lighter over time because they lose some water weight.
Benefits
Benefits
- Deep Moisturization: Tallow, rich in oleic and palmitic acids, forms a protective barrier, locking in moisture, while goat milk’s lactic acid and natural fats hydrate and soften dry skin.
- Nutrient-Rich: Packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K from tallow and goat milk, it supports skin repair, reduces inflammation, and protects against environmental damage.
- Gentle Exfoliation: Goat milk contains lactic acid, which gently exfoliates dead skin cells, promoting a smoother, brighter complexion without irritation.
- Soothing for Sensitive Skin: The creamy texture of goat milk combined with tallow’s skin-identical properties calms irritation and suits sensitive or eczema-prone skin.
- Mild Antimicrobial Action: Tallow’s natural antimicrobial properties, paired with goat milk’s soothing effects, may help reduce acne-causing bacteria and support clearer skin.
- Balanced Hydration: Goat milk’s natural humectants and tallow’s sebum-like structure maintain skin’s moisture balance, preventing dryness or oiliness.
Ingredients
Ingredients
Raw goat milk; Saponified natural fats (beef tallow), coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil.
Raw Goat Milk
Unlike our competitors, we only use goat milk from our own herd of healthy, pastured dairy goats. Our milk travels several hundred feet from our milking parlor to our soaproom. It isn't transported hundreds of miles and it's often turned into soap the same day it is collected. This ultra-fresh milk is as healthy as possible and is high in skin-nourishing ingredients like Selenium, Vitamin A, and Lactic Acid.
Natural Fats
Beef tallow in soap offers a range of skin benefits due to its rich composition of fatty acids, including oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, which deeply moisturize and nourish the skin. It is a natural source of vitamins A, D, E, and K, which support skin repair, reduce inflammation, and protect against environmental stressors. The high fat content in tallow helps form a protective barrier, locking in moisture and making it especially effective for dry or irritated skin. Additionally, tallow’s similarity to human sebum allows it to absorb easily, promoting a balanced complexion while its mild antimicrobial properties may help reduce acne-causing bacteria.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that can make your skin feel soft and smooth. Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help treat skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Coconut oil has a small amount of natural SPF, so it can provide some minor sun protection for your skin. Coconut oil contains vitamin E, which can help even out your skin tone and reduce dark spots.
Sunflower Oil
Sunflower oil is known for its nourishing and moisturizing properties. It has vitamin E, which is great for moisturizing your skin. It has a type of fatty acid called linoleic acid that can help improve your skin's natural barrier and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It has lots of antioxidants that can help protect your skin from damage caused by the sun and pollution. If your skin is irritated and itchy, sunflower oil can help calm it down. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce redness and swelling.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is a natural emollient, and can keep your skin hydrated and nourished. Its healthy fats can penetrate deeply into your skin, leaving it soft and supple. It is packed with antioxidants like vitamin E and polyphenols that can help neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation caused by sun damage. This can help prevent signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds that can help soothe your skin as well as natural antimicrobial compounds that can help fight bacteria on your skin.
Saponified
Saponification is the chemical soapmaking reaction that turns the ingredients into soap. We use sodium hydroxide as the catalyst for bar soap and potassium hydroxide as the catalyst for liquid soap. Neither of these ingredients are left in the finished soap. They have all been used up in the saponification reaction and turned into soap.
Directions
Directions
- Wet. Get both your skin and the soap wet.
- Lather. Use your hands, a washcloth, or rub directly on your skin.
- Wash. Safe to use on your entire body, including your face and delicate areas. Avoid getting lather directly in your eyes.
- Rinse. Thoroughly wash off all the soap lather.
- Store Properly. After using, place the soap on a soap rest to dry thoroughly. This will help it last longer.
- Patch Test First. This soap should feel fantastic all over your body, except directly in your eyes. To discover any possible allergic reaction, test the soap on a small area of skin first.

About Us
The Jonas family is a God-loving, hard-working, ever-learning family that seeks to honor Jesus in all that we do. We began Goat Milk Stuff to share the goodness of goat milk with others, to bring Jim home full-time, and to provide an environment where the children could learn to be entrepreneurs. As the children and Goat Milk Stuff have grown, we've been able to watch all of these goals come to fruition. We have a very simple philosophy when it comes to parenting and educating our children.
Meet Our Goats
We breed Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf registered dairy goats in Scottsburg, Indiana - only half an hour North of Louisville, Kentucky. Our Alpine dairy goats are raised as naturally as possible. We have a 36 acre farm in Southern Indiana, and the goats spend their days in the woods, in their pastures, or in the barn if there's bad weather.
Baby goats are raised on their mom's colostrum and goat milk. Babies are weaned around 3-4 months old. Since the moms are milked for about 10 months, there is plenty of excess milk to use in our goat milk products.
