Turmeric Naked Goat Milk Soap

Turmeric soap has no added scent.

The unscented soap varieties smell like soap, yet do not have any added scents or fragrances (including essential oils!) to reduce the risk of irritation. Unscented soap does still have a smell because the ingredients used in soap production contain natural scents that we do not chemically remove. For example, coconut oil smells like coconut oil, milk smells like milk, and unscented soap smells like unscented soap.

If you are hyper-sensitive to scents in general, start with a smaller sized bar to make sure the pure soap smell itself is not irritating.

Please be aware that we make many scented products in our Soaproom. While there is no added scent to the Turmeric Goat Milk Soap itself, when you receive your soap you may be able to smell scents on the exterior of your soap and the packaging it arrives in. If you are extremely sensitive to scent, you can remove the packaging and even wash with the soap once to remove any scent that may have settled out of the air onto your soap.

We would love to someday have a separate building dedicated to unscented products and packaging, but unfortunately, we don't have that ability at present.

We weigh all soaps six weeks after we make them to make sure they’re heavy enough. As the soaps get older, they last longer. But they might get a bit lighter over time because they lose some water weight.

• Brightens Skin Tone. Turmeric can help fade dark spots, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation, but it is not proven to help when added to soap.
• Exfoliates Gently. Goat milk’s lactic acid and turmeric’s properties help remove dead skin cells, improving skin texture without irritation.
• Soothes Sensitive Skin. There are no harsh chemicals or detergents used. The gentle, natural ingredients make it suitable for sensitive skin.

Raw Goat Milk
Unlike many other soapmakers, we use fresh, raw goat milk from our own herd of healthy, pastured dairy goats. Our milk travels just a few hundred feet from our milking parlor to our soaproom. It doesn't have to travel hundreds of miles or be turned into powder. In fact, we often make our soap the same day we milk our goats! Goat milk naturally contains vitamins, minerals, fats, and lactic acid. It's one of the key ingredients that makes our handmade goat milk soap special and helps create a creamy lather that leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.

Natural Fats
We use lard because it makes a wonderful bar of soap! Lard contains fatty acids such as oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids. These fats help create a firm, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather. During soapmaking, natural fats react with lye to form soap and glycerin. Glycerin helps attract moisture, while the finished soap gently washes away dirt and oil without leaving skin feeling stripped.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil helps our goat milk soap create a rich, bubbly lather that washes away dirt and everyday impurities. It also helps make a firm bar that cleans well and rinses easily. Combined with our other soapmaking ingredients, coconut oil contributes to a pleasant washing experience that leaves skin feeling fresh and clean.

Sunflower Oil
Sunflower oil contains fatty acids, including linoleic and oleic acids, and naturally contains vitamin E. We add sunflower oil to our soap recipe because its fatty acid blend helps balance the cleansing and lathering properties of the finished bar. Together with goat milk and our other ingredients, it helps us make a soap that leaves your skin feeling clean, soft, and smooth.

Turmeric
Turmeric is a plant-derived ingredient known for its rich golden color and natural compounds, including curcumin, an antioxidant. It has been used in traditional skincare for centuries and is a popular ingredient in products for dry, oily, and mature skin. When added to our goat milk soap, turmeric provides a natural golden color and makes a wonderful addition to a gentle daily skincare routine that leaves skin feeling clean, soft, and smooth.

What Does Saponified Mean?
Saponification is the natural chemical reaction that turns fats and oils into soap. We use sodium hydroxide (lye) to make our bar soap and potassium hydroxide to make our liquid soap. During soapmaking, the lye reacts with the fats and oils to form soap and glycerin. When soap is made correctly, the lye is used up in this reaction, so no unreacted lye remains in the finished product.

That's how we turn simple ingredients into handmade goat milk soap!

1. Wet. Wet your skin and the soap with warm water.
2. Lather. Rub the soap between your hands, onto a washcloth, or directly onto your skin to create a creamy lather.
3. Wash. Gently wash your hands, face, and body. For external use only. Avoid direct contact with your eyes.
4. Rinse. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all soap lather.
5. Keep Dry Between Uses. Place your soap on a soap rest that allows water to drain away. This helps your soap dry between uses so it lasts longer.
6. Patch Test First. If you're trying this soap for the first time, test it on a small area of skin before using it all over your body. Stop using it if irritation occurs.
