Unscented Goat Milk Soap

Unscented Goat Milk Soap

Many people have skin conditions and sensitivities to scent that prevent them from using scented soaps and lotions. If you are one of those people, we offer a range of unscented products for you to choose from.

What Does 'Unscented' Actually Mean?

'Unscented' means that we do not add any scent (such as a fragrance oil or essential oil) to the product. It does not mean that we use any chemicals to remove the scent. Our soaps and lotion are not 'fragrance-free', they are unscented.

Fragrance-free products use chemicals to remove or mask any scent associated with the ingredients. Our soaps and lotions do not use any of these chemicals. That means that the item will still smell like the base ingredients.

Unscented soaps are still going to smell like soap. Unscented lotions are still going to smell like lotion. They don't smell like "nothing". They smell like themselves without any other scent intentionally added.

But what exactly does plain soap smell like? Here are three reviews on our unscented purity soap that may give you an idea.

“The soap is very nice and has a nice, clean smell.” - LYN

“I like this soap because it smells so fresh.” - Gail

“Purity is our family’s go-to soap. It has a natural clean smell and has done wonders for my acne and eczema. I had been diagnosed with eczema many years ago. After I made the switch to soap and natural lotion, all the dry patches and scarring disappeared. My dermatologist now believes I had suffered severe dermatitis from all the chemicals in store bought products.” - Lisa

Please remember that our unscented soaps are still made in our soap room where we make other scented items. We do store all the unscented soaps in separate bins, but we do not have the facilities to store them in a separate building. It is possible that the cotton bag that holds your soap has picked up some of the scents in the soap room. But absolutely no scents have been added to the soap.

Once you have removed the bag and start using the soap, any scent you are noticing is the scent of the soap itself. If you are hypersensitive to scent, we always recommend starting with a travel bar of the unscented soaps first.

Why Choose an Unscented Soap?

Our unscented soaps are some of our most popular goat milk items. There are several reasons to use unscented soaps.

1. You have known allergies or sensitivities. If you are sensitive to perfumes or scents, then you are probably looking for something that won’t cause or exacerbate any unpleasant symptoms. Many people incorrectly believe that essential oils (which are purely plant-derived) won't cause irritation because they're natural. But people are allergic to natural ingredients all the time.

2. You suffer from skin conditions. If you are struggling with eczema, psoriasis, or extremely dry skin, unscented soaps are always the best first choice to avoid unnecessary irritants.

3. You are trying to diagnose a sensitivity or allergy. If you are unsure which ingredient is the cause of a sensitivity, skin irritation, or a general unwellness, switching to a pure unscented soap will narrow down the ingredient list. This may help you pinpoint the source of the irritant.

4. You want to live as simply as possible and not be a possible irritant to others. We live in a world that is filled with scents. If you are in contact with people who you know are hypersensitive to scent, you may wish to avoid scented products for their sake.

“I have a child with chemical allergies who has to avoid any fragrance (to include essential oils) as well as coconut-derived ingredients and many other things. It is really hard to find products that are considered safe for my child so I feel so fortunate to have found this bar soap [the organic castile]…” - L F

What Are the Differences Between the Unscented Soaps?

We offer many varieties of unscented soap because so many of our customers have allergies to different ingredients (in addition to scents). The different unscented formulas use different ingredients so that people have options.

Purity Goat Milk Soap. This is our most popular unscented soap and the soap for which we have the most testimonials. This is our longest-lasting formula and as such is a great value. It also has the bubbly lather most people expect from soap. Ingredients include: Raw goat milk; Saponified natural fats, coconut oil, sunflower oil.

"I love everything about this soap from the smell right down to how healthy my skin feels." - Dawn

Activated Bamboo Charcoal Goat Milk Soap. This is the same exact soap as the purity except for the addition of activated bamboo charcoal. The charcoal may help draw out impurities and can help people with acne or other skin conditions. Ingredients include: Raw goat milk; Saponified natural fats, coconut oil, sunflower oil; activated bamboo charcoal.

"I have sensitive skin and still experience breakouts. This soap makes my skin feel so clean and soft at the same time. It doesn't dry out my face and calms the rosacea and breakouts." - Sheila

Castile Goat Milk Soap. This bar is a great option for anyone who might be sensitive to coconut oil. It is a softer bar (so it doesn't last as long as the purity soap) because it is made with just olive oil. The lather is also very different in that it does not bubble and instead is more like a lotion. It has the fewest ingredients of any of our soaps. These ingredients simply include: Raw goat milk; Saponified organic extra virgin olive oil.

"Good morning!! I have been using the soap for a week now, and absolutely love it!! I have Eczema and sensitive skin and the soap has helped greatly in reducing dryness and itching." - Lisa

Calendula Goat Milk Soap. The calendula soap is a twist on the castile formula. We first infuse calendula flowers in olive oil. Calendula is a common herbal remedy for many skin conditions such as inflammation, poison oak and ivy, and burns. We then also add some castor oil to the formula to improve the lather. This soap isn't quite as bubbly as the purity, but it is more bubbly than the castile. Ingredients include: Raw goat milk; Saponified calendula infused olive oil and castor oil.

“Love this soap!! Has a mild scent which smells amazing and is so gentle on our skin. Has helped improve the dryness and eczema issues.” - Alisha

“I’m very pleased with the Calendula soap. I have been using it for quite a while. I have very sensitive skin and have allergies and many sensitivities. This soap does not irritate my skin or dry it out. It works very well and leaves my skin soft. It also last a long time as long as I don't leave it sitting in water. Due to my sensitivities I can’t tolerate scents, yet this has a light natural smell to it which is nice and doesn’t cause me any irritation. I highly recommend it! Also, I really appreciate that I always receive my order very promptly. The customer service is excellent.” - Tammy

No matter what your reason for using unscented goat milk soap, we hope that one of these unscented choices is perfect for your skin.
