Description

Calendula flowers are traditionally used to remedy cuts, bruises, and burns, and are a natural anti-inflammatory. They also contain naturally-occurring phytochemicals that are thought to fight back against fungi, bacteria, and viruses. This packaging-free natural Calendula Goat Milk Soap is unscented and infuses olive oil with powerful Calendula flowers to improve the condition of your skin without any residual dryness or irritation.

Scent

Calendula Olive Oil soap has no added scent.

The unscented soap varieties smell like soap, yet do not have any added scents or fragrances (including essential oils!) to reduce the risk of irritation. Unscented soap does still have a smell because the ingredients used in soap production contain natural scents that we do not chemically remove. For example, coconut oil smells like coconut oil, milk smells like milk, and unscented soap smells like unscented soap.

If you are hyper-sensitive to scents in general, start with a smaller sized bar to make sure the pure soap smell itself is not irritating.

Please be aware that we make many scented products in our Soaproom. While there is no added scent to the Calendula Olive Oil Goat Milk Soap itself, when you receive your soap you may be able to smell scents on the exterior of your soap and the packaging it arrives in. If you are extremely sensitive to scent, you can remove the packaging and even wash with the soap once to remove any scent that may have settled out of the air onto your soap.

We would love to someday have a separate building dedicated to unscented products and packaging, but unfortunately, we don't have that ability at present.

Size

  • Weighs between 4.0 and 4.8 ounces
  • Measures approximately 3.5" x 1" x 2"
  • Does not come in a cotton bag

We weigh all soaps six weeks after we make them to make sure they’re heavy enough. As the soaps get older, they last longer. But they might get a bit lighter over time because they lose some water weight.

Benefits

  • Soothes Sensitive Skin: Raw goat milk, rich in selenium and vitamin A, combined with calendula-infused olive oil, calms hypersensitive skin, reducing irritation and redness, as Dr. Nina M. praised for its mildness.
  • Reduces Inflammation: Calendula’s anti-inflammatory properties help alleviate symptoms of eczema, rosacea, and skin irritation, with users like Sue P. reporting relief from scalp eczema.
  • Deeply Hydrates: Olive oil’s healthy fats and goat milk’s fatty acids penetrate skin to lock in moisture, leaving it soft and supple without dryness, as noted by a breast cancer survivor during chemotherapy.
  • Antioxidant Protection: Olive oil and castor oil, packed with vitamin E and polyphenols, combat free radicals, potentially reducing signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Fights Acne and Bacteria: Calendula’s antimicrobial properties, paired with castor oil’s antibacterial effects, help prevent breakouts and infections, with Cindy S. noting her daughter’s acne cleared quickly.
  • Gentle Exfoliation: Lactic acid in raw goat milk gently removes dead skin cells, improving texture and promoting a radiant complexion, as Crystal S. observed with smaller pores and fewer breakouts.
  • Unscented for Sensitivity: Free of added fragrances or essential oils, the soap’s natural, mild soapy smell minimizes irritation risks for scent-sensitive users, ideal for hypersensitive skin.
  • Eco-Friendly and Cost-Saving: The “naked” packaging-free design reduces environmental waste and lowers costs, offering a sustainable choice for gentle, effective skincare.

Ingredients

Raw goat milk; Saponified calendula infused olive oil and castor oil.

Raw Goat Milk
Unlike our competitors, we only use goat milk from our own herd of healthy, pastured dairy goats. Our milk travels several hundred feet from our milking parlor to our soaproom. It isn't transported hundreds of miles and it's often turned into soap the same day it is collected. This ultra-fresh milk is as healthy as possible and is high in skin-nourishing ingredients like Selenium, Vitamin A, and Lactic Acid.

Olive Oil
Olive oil is a natural emollient, and can keep your skin hydrated and nourished. Its healthy fats can penetrate deeply into your skin, leaving it soft and supple. It is packed with antioxidants like vitamin E and polyphenols that can help neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation caused by sun damage. This can help prevent signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds that can help soothe your skin as well as natural antimicrobial compounds that can help fight bacteria on your skin.

Castor Oil

If you have acne, rosacea, or any other inflammatory skin condition, castor oil's anti-inflammatory properties can help soothe your skin and reduce redness. It contains antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that can help prevent bacteria growth on your skin, which can help you avoid skin infections and breakouts. Castor oil is rich in antioxidants that can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your skin.

Saponified
Saponification is the chemical soapmaking reaction that turns the ingredients into soap. We use sodium hydroxide as the catalyst for bar soap and potassium hydroxide as the catalyst for liquid soap. Neither of these ingredients are left in the finished soap. They have all been used up in the saponification reaction and turned into soap.

Directions

  1. Wet. Get both your skin and the soap wet.
  2. Lather. Use your hands, a washcloth, or rub directly on your skin.
  3. Wash. Safe to use on your entire body, including your face and delicate areas. Avoid getting lather directly in your eyes.
  4. Rinse. Thoroughly wash off all the soap lather.
  5. Store Properly. After using, place the soap on a soap rest to dry thoroughly. This will help it last longer.
  6. Patch Test First. This soap should feel fantastic all over your body, except directly in your eyes. To discover any possible allergic reaction, test the soap on a small area of skin first.

The Family Making Your Farm-Fresh Goat Milk Soap

Goat Milk Stuff is a family-run business built on faith in Jesus, hard work, and a commitment to making farm-fresh goat milk soap with simple ingredients. What began as a way to share the goodness of goat milk and teach our children entrepreneurship has grown into a trusted source for from-scratch goat milk soap made with care.

We make our soap on our family farm using milk from our own goats, creating products we are proud to use in our own home. As our family and business have grown, our purpose has stayed the same: to serve others with integrity, work together, and offer high-quality goat milk products for soft, clean-feeling skin.

Meet the Goats Behind Your Goat Milk Soap

At Goat Milk Stuff, our registered Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats are raised with attentive daily care on our 36-acre family farm in Scottsburg, Indiana, just north of Louisville, Kentucky. We believe high-quality goat milk starts with healthy, well-cared-for goats, so our herd has space to roam, access to pasture and woods, shelter from harsh weather, and the hands-on care they need every day.

Our baby goats are raised on their mothers’ colostrum and goat milk, and they stay with attentive care through the weaning process at around 3 to 4 months. Because our dairy goats are milked for about 10 months, we have plenty of fresh goat milk to use in our farm-fresh, from-scratch goat milk soap and skincare. When you choose Goat Milk Stuff, you can feel good knowing the goat milk in our products comes from goats raised with care, respect, and responsible farming practices.
