Jewelweed
We wild-harvest our jewelweed plants from our woods and infuse the stem, leaves, and flowers in olive oil for use in our soap and salve. According to IndianaNativePlants.org, jewelweed “contains lawsone (hennotannic acid), which is used as an antihistamine and as an anti-inflammatory. It also contains tannin, which is an astringent, and 2-methoxy-1, 4-naphtholoquinine, a fungicide and an anti-inflammatory.” All of these properties make it excellent at combating poison ivy.

Olive Oil
Olive oil is a natural emollient, and can keep your skin hydrated and nourished. Its healthy fats can penetrate deeply into your skin, leaving it soft and supple. It is packed with antioxidants like vitamin E and polyphenols that can help neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation caused by sun damage. This can help prevent signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds that can help soothe your skin as well as natural antimicrobial compounds that can help fight bacteria on your skin. 

Beeswax

It helps moisturize your skin because it stengthens your skin barrier which helps your skin retain moisture. I can also calm your skin by helping to reduce redness, irritation, and inflammation.

Directions
  1. Clean the area: Wash the affected skin gently with mild goat milk soap and water, then pat dry.
  2. Wash hands: Ensure your hands are clean to avoid contamination.
  3. Apply a thin layer: Use clean fingers or a sterile applicator to spread a small amount of salve evenly over the area.
  4. Massage gently: Rub the salve into the skin.
  5. Wash hands again: Clean your hands after application to remove any residue.
  6. Reapply as needed: Up to 3-4 times per day.
  7. Store properly: Keep the salve in a cool, dry place, away from heat or direct sunlight.
  8. Discontinue if irritation occurs.

Meet Our Goats

We breed Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf registered dairy goats in Scottsburg, Indiana - only half an hour North of Louisville, Kentucky. Our Alpine dairy goats are raised as naturally as possible. We have a 36 acre farm in Southern Indiana, and the goats spend their days in the woods, in their pastures, or in the barn if there's bad weather.

Baby goats are raised on their mom's colostrum and goat milk. Babies are weaned around 3-4 months old. Since the moms are milked for about 10 months, there is plenty of excess milk to use in our goat milk products.
