Avocado Oil For Skin

Avocado oil has rapidly gained popularity thanks to its numerous health and beauty benefits. Derived from the fruit of the avocado tree, this nutrient-rich oil offers a plethora of advantages for both your overall well-being and the well-being of your skin. We’ve been using avocado oil in our lotions and lip balms for a long time and the feedback from customers has been nothing but positive, and here we are going to explain why.

What is Avocado Oil?

Avocado oil is a natural oil that is extracted from ripe avocados. It is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, making it a valuable component in skincare products.

The process of extracting avocado oil typically involves peeling and pitting the pulp of the avocado, and then processing it using a mechanical or chemical method of oil extraction. The extracted oil is then refined to remove impurities and extend the base shelf life that it has.

Avocado Oil Benefits for Skin

Avocado oil, very much like avocados themselves, offer a wide range of benefits for your overall health. Some of the key benefits are:

  1. Improve Heart Health: When monounsaturated fatty acids are absorbed into the body, either via oral consumption (eating) or absorption through the skin, they can help to lower bad cholesterol level and reduce the risk of heart disease.
  2. Rich in Vitamin E: Avocado oil is a great source of vitamin E. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects cells from damage caused by free radicals, meaning that with a healthy supply of Vitamin E you can combat oxidative stress, which is linked to various chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer. When focusing on the benefits to the skin in particular, vitamin E is crucial in the role of activating T-Cells, which are key to fighting off infections and triggering the production of Collagen, which improves the elasticity in our skin.
  3. Rich in Vitamin K: Vitamin K is another superhero for the body that avocado oil is rich in. Essential for the production and activation of proteins in the body, vitamin K is beneficial for blood clotting and bone metabolism.
  4. Anti-inflammatory Properties: Avocado oil can help reduce inflammation in the body which can help you to find a respite from conditions like arthritis.

Avocado oil also has a number of skin specific benefits. As a natural moisturizer the oil of an avocado can help to prevent dryness and flakiness in skin, as well as help to combat the signs of aging.

While you should never use avocado oil as a replacement for sunscreen, avocado oil can provide some protection against UV damage due to its T-cell activation potential; but should always be used in collaboration with sunscreen that has a minimum protection of SPF15.

And if you are a sufferer of acne, whether in your teenage years or as a matured adult, then avocado oil can help to soothe acne-prone skin and reduce the redness and skin irritation that acne can bring.

Avocado oil is a versatile and beneficial natural ingredient that can enhance your skin health and overall wellbeing, so incorporating it into the products that we make can give you a host of benefits from hydration of the skin to bringing down the inflammation caused by skin irritants and skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
